Ain't Nobody Checkin' For Me

We out here rockin’ and rollin’ with Chicago-based rock band OHMME (Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham). The duo hit the virtual studio to discuss, among other things, their unique genre of music, an experience akin to dumping water on one’s face and then taking a tasteful walk through a garden. Yum! Additionally, the gang chops it up about fighting for your art, and even manages to fit in a collective group cry over the fate of live performance. It’s therapeutic! Plus Cody and Rachel emotionally dunk on People Who Wear Masks Below Their Noses (you know who you are!) on our fan favorite segment, GYBS of the Week. 

 

Writer, director, and hilarious web-comic Natalie Griffen is doing a great job indeed. She crashes the virtch studio this week to discuss her webcomic Great Job Nat, her future Tedtalk on rhetoric, and harnessing the lumbering beasts of ideas that exist in her brain. Meanwhile, Rachel dreams of ration cards and “potato lines” in a non-existent utopia called the “Socialist States of America,” and Cody admits to an adolescence heavily influenced by the movie Hitch. Also, Happy Women’s History Month! The gang celebrates by roasting men who call women “females” to a burnt crisp on ANCFM’s newest segment, GYBS of the Week! 

 

Animator, illustrator, and author Greg Buissereth graces the virtual studio this week to talk about squashing your doubt bug, self-publishing your dreams, and decidedly not turning your passion into a pay check.  Meanwhile, Rachel and Cody mourn the death of denim and ROAST the fuck out of Winter in a brand news segment called GYBS of The Week. 

 

Chicago born and award winning director Andre Muir joins the virtual studio to break down breaking into the industry through the back door and faking it until you've full blown made it. Meanwhile Rachel and Cody toil away at the same job application and a search begins for the worst neighbor of all time. 

Chandra Russell (South Side, Comedy Central) hits the virtch studio to talk lunch-table roastin’,  playing a dusty (not dirty) cop on TV, and creating the roles you want to see. Meanwhile, Rachel actively tries to become the female George Soros and Cody heats Tom Brady.

Rachel and Cody sit down with writer, comedian and expert social distancer Julia Shiplett to talk keeping up comic momentum while cooped up in the house. Plus, Rachel plans to get covid-proof while Cody gets pumped for Black History Month.

Lucy and Bash Hendra, the brother/sister duo behind the illustrious IG page turned coffee table book, Historical Homos, came through the virch studio to talk all things queer history: fluid forefathers, Abe Lincoln’s OnlyFans, Eleanor Roosevelt’s litany of Lolitas and more!  Meanwhile, Rachel legally changes her name to Trish White-Woman after doing a dry January cleanse and Cody is drowning in free Hollywood screeners. Help us!

Will Miles Aka Sir Bookington himself comes through the virtual studio to talk Chicago comedy, substitute teaching and successfully shitting where he eats. Meanwhile, Rachel has started wearing a wrist brace and consequently turned 45, and Cody is fending off volunteer opportunities left and right. Listen please!!

Ashley Blaine Featherson (Dear White People, Bad Hair) has landed in the virtual studio, people! We're talking glory days at Howard University, PR for sex toys and keeping your A-1 Day-1's closest! Meanwhile, Rachel's got nose dandruff and Cody receives some nakedly unfortunate checkery. Spoiler alert: we still broke, but we happy!
